Historical Hot-Off: Coming Soon

To pass the rest of the long summer days, we've decided to have a Oilers Alumni Hot-Off before the Annual Hot-Off (comprised of current players and prospects).

So I need a list of the 32 more influential Oilers. I have thought of 28, but want you folks to vote for the remaining 4.

Stan Weir and Al Hamilton, for some links to the past. Perhaps Miro Satan, Jason Arnott? Or are they too much in the CFP/Comrie best-forgotten category?

I can't believe I'm reading this blog and not seeing the words "Igor Ulanov".

Anyway, let's get some WHA guys in there. Bitta Dave Dryden, bitta Jacques Plante, bitta Jim Hamilton maybe. Give this thing some historical depth.

Risto Siltanen - very euro, very skilled
Pat Price - solid, violent, all-Oiler
Dave Lumley - my sisters all loved him
Glen Sather - he was a player, too, but was he hot?

I think my votes would be for Lumley, Ulanov, McSorley, and Sather for sure.

After Stan Weir's effect blog-wide on the recent cup run, I feel obligated to add him..

I think that the list would be incomplete without adding a few of the gems from the 79-80 roster (http://www.oilersheritage.com/database/results_year.php?absolutepage=5&name=%&season=1979-1980&fname=%)

I nominate Risto Siltanen (for the watch alone) and Ron Low for looking like the drummer from Molly Hatchett. Yowza.

How about Don Jackson, Dave Brown, Willy Lidstrom, and Marty McSorely.

Stan Weir yeah!

What? No Steve Kelly, Jason Bonsignore, and Andre Kovalenko?

Lumley I'd think would be there for sure, and maybe Janne Niinimaa if you're going to have Tommy Salo.

Heck might as well have Dan LaCouture if you've got Salo there.

How could you all have missed Mike Krushelnyski

You might need to split the hot-off into an 80s alumni and 90s alumni. I think there's quite a few players you could still add in both decades:

80s

Lumley
Krushelnyski
McSorely
Muni
Beukeboom
Dave Brown
Gelinas
Graves
Murphy
Gregg
Lamb
Pouzar
Siltanen
G. Smith

90s-early 00s

Arnott
Grier
Poti
Sean Brown
Carter
Guerin
Brewer
Corson
Czerkawski
Guerin
Hamrlik
Kovalenko
Lindgren
Manson
Marchment
McAmmond
Mellanby
Mironov
Murray
Niinimaa
Richardson
York

i'm thinking Jussi should be in there...everything he did, plus his boyband hotness.

I second the inclusion of Jussi. Helped take them all the way to game 7.
Hope he has a great year back home in Finland.
