Cuts like a Knife

It's the end of the road for Steve Staios, at least for this season. He's undergoing surgery for a dislocated knee cap. His forgotten team mate Tjarnqvist just had surgery for a sports hernia earlier this week.

Edmonton was officially eliminated from the playoffs with Calgary's victory over Detroit last night. It's the earliest that the Oilers have ever been out of the playoffs. Ouch. But like we didn't see it coming. I won't be depressed with an Oilers loss tonight, for I like high draft picks. And I wouldn't mind if Colorado snuck up on Calgary, either.

Go Yaroslavl!

I wish I was having knee surgery: I'd get to stay in bed all day, reading books, eating custard, with people being really nice to me.

Death or puking aside, hospitals are wicked.

Lowetide reported that Stoll's concussions may be threatening his career. Poor guy.

I got 7:5 odds with a Flamers fan on my $20, him saying Golorado can't do it.

I thought that was a pretty good stroke of business, a sweet $28 for me!

what exactly is a "sports hernia"??? i'm a doctor for christ's sake and i've never heard this expression before. it's going to end up being some stupid name for an inguinal hernia, isn't it? ranking right up there with "consumption," "double pneumonia" and "the sugar diabetes."

Yeah it is...

I looked it up awhile ago because it was bugging me.

Still seem painful though. And I'm sorry but it sounds better than "inflamed pubic bone" ... although I do still relish the day it was misspelled in the paper.
