Friday the 13th!

Last night the Oilers beat the Sharks. A dandy birthday present for Mr. Roloson, despite the fact that he let in four goals. The game was on Pay-Per-View, so I didn't actually watch the game. Thank goodness for the highlights!

Last night Ryan Smyth broke Wayne Gretzky's record for a Hat Trick in the least amount of time. Gretzky's previous record of three goals in two minutes and eighteen seconds (18 February, 1981) was beaten last night by Smyth's Hat Trick in two minutes and one second.

In other news, the Oilers have told anthem-singer Paul Lorieau (pictured here in the photo I took at the game opener) to stop turning the mic over to the fans and to sing the entire song himself. Apparently he gets paid the same either way.

Today is Marc-André Bergeron's birthday.

Hey prez thanks for picking up the slack around here! That's funny about the anthem guy, but I think I get why they'd tell him to cut it out. It works better as a "once in a while" thng, I reckon.

I read in the Journal the other day that Lorieau's turning over of the mic was originally ordered by Oiler brass.

Shocking!

My kid has started playing Runescape while I keep an eye on him. I now cannot help but think of the term "Chaos Dwarf" whenever I see Bergeron.

Happy birthday anyways, MAB.

I think it's okay to tell Paul to sing it himself. Singing the anthem by themselves in the regular season is more a Canuck's tradition anyway. They don't have much, so we should let them have it in the regular season and we can take it over come the play-offs.
